Cheryl Miller
The (now defunct) Cherylheart website was started in 1999 as a tribute to the medical marijuana activism of my wife, Cheryl Lee Miller. By the time Cheryl died June 7, 2003, the website had become a beacon of hope to medical marijuana patients everywhere. They saw that Cheryl was fighting a battle she knew wouldn't be won in her lifetime, and realized that she was fighting for them. They saw that a woman who couldn't move her arms or legs was changing
the scope of medical marijuana activism, and realized that they could take part as well. If Cheryl could do it, so could they. That was Cheryl's message and everlasting gift to medical marijuana patients.
My first 5 years without Cheryl have been a long stretch. During that time the Cherylheart website has been taken down due to inadvertent nonpayment, and all web material was permanently deleted into oblivion. Most of it can be recreated, but it will take time.
So today I begin that task. I hope to be able to recount most of the incredible events that I witnessed during my time with Cheryl. Those of you that knew her, know that will be a challenge because of the sheer volume of her actions.
Our new paradigm is to look to the future and try to learn from the mistakes of the past. Medical marijuana legislation in New Jersey had been a goal of Cheryl's since 1991. She would be proud to know that her efforts were apparently not in vain. A bill to legalize medical marijuana was introduced in the New Jersey State Assembly by Reed Gusciora (D-15th) in 2004. Those of you who say you support such legislation now have a good reason to start taking part. We, and the Coalition for Medical Marijuana will try to make that as easy for you to do as possible.

To date, Cheryl was ignored by every NJ Governor that we'd made contact with since 1991. Hopefully this trend will not continue.
